“Follow your passion” has become the default slogan for people who are seeking direction for a life path or career. But is it advice you can count on? Don’t follow your passion. Think about focus and managing time for “deep work” instead. Cal Newport goes against the grain and discusses Deep Work in his TED Talk, “Follow your passion is bad advice.” I’ve found his ideas to be invaluable.
